Please check children for ticks

With Spring in the air the weather is finally starting to warm up. Unfortunately that means ticks are back.

Children are visiting the bush on a daily basis so please check them over at bathtime especially behind the ears, on the back of the head and neck, groin, armpits and back of knees.

If you find a tick on your child, it should be removed as soon as possible using fine tipped forceps or tweezers: press the skin down around the tick’s embedded mouth part, grip the mouth part firmly, lift gently to detach the tick. Avoid squeezing the body of the tick during removal.
