Early Years Learning Framework
Salamander Child Care Centre’s preschool program is based upon the national curriculum: The Early Years Learning Framework.
The Centre incorporates a preschool program into its everyday learning. Children enrolled at Salamander Child Care Centre are supported and guided to develop a sense of self through reflection and understanding of how their decisions and choices impact upon themselves and others. We endeavour to stimulate children’s thinking and problem solving through trial and error, exploration, hypothesizing and investigation.
Children are given the opportunity to develop their language, literacy and numeracy skills through play activities such as story, drama, poetry, sorting and classifying which is planned into the daily curriculum.
In the 2 years before a child starts formal schooling the children are given an opportunity to engage in a transition to school program.
This program includes, learning to be responsible for their own belongings, being independent learners, completing errands, becoming familiar with school environments, learning to listen and follow instructions, learning to dress themselves and to use a lunch box.
