Natalie Youd (AKA Boss Lady)
Hi my name is Natalie, known to the children as many names including Nat, Natawee, Natty etc.
I have been working at Salamander since 2011 and have been educational leader since 2020. I love that this allows me to spend time in all rooms, building relationships with the children and being involved in their educational programs. My positions means I support educator growth and I am very passionate in providing a range of opportunities for educators to be inspired and grow!
I love this quote from Rita Pierson, how "every child deserves a champion- an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be!" I hold relationships with children and educators sacred and know that if people feel seen and heard they really can change the world.
I love learning and being inspired by those around me. I am on a reconciliation journey myself, and acknowledge the Worimi people who's beautiful land I get to work and live on each day. As I continue my learning journey I promise to share my knowledge with those around me, through connection, story and shared place, just like how our worlds oldest culture share their knowledge.
I look forward to building a relationship with our families and further strengthening our place within our Port Stephens community.
I work mostly out of a beautiful converted shed in the big yard so come and say hi when you get a chance!
