About Salamander early EDUCATION
Salamander Early Education, also known as Salamander Child Care Centre, has been serving the families of Port Stephens since 15th August 1992. We are committed to providing all children with a safe space where they can play, learn and grow on Worimi Land.
Salamander Early Education is a Community based not-for-profit Centre. We are run by a Management Committee that is made up of parents. Every big decision that we make is discussed with the Committee so that we can ensure everything we are doing is in the best interest of our Children and our Families.
We value childhood and all of the wonder it brings above all else. We are passionate advocates for the rights of children and especially their right to play. We deliberately do not run a structured School Readiness Program because we believe that providing an environment where children can develop a love of learning and strong sense of who they are, will prepare children for all aspects of their lives. We are here to provide all of our children with the experiences and opportunities that they need in order to flourish.
At Salamander Early Education we value the children and families that come through our Centre. We provide them with above regulation staff to child ratio's and as a Community based not-for-profit Centre, we invest heavily in our team, our children and our families.
In 2020, we established a partnership with the University of Newcastle Occupational Therapy Clinic. This partnership means that we have a qualified Occupational Therapist with us for one day a week. They also have a student that joins them and they help us to identify any early intervention that might be required for our early learners. They carry out screening and run small group sessions with the children focusing on specific skills. They also work alongside our fantastic team of educators to ensure that inclusive practice is embedded within our Centre.
We also have a wonderful relationship with the incredible team over at Harbourside Haven Aged Care Home. Covid 19 has made this relationship difficult but we make the most of any opportunities that present themselves to engage in our intergenerational program.
Choosing the right Centre for your Child is such a difficult decision. You need to be sure that you understand the approach of the Centre you attend. The Philosophy and Vision of a Centre needs to align with what you want for your child. If you are looking to enrol your child at Salamander Early Education, please be sure to read through all aspects of this website to make sure you feel we are the right fit for you.
If we are, then you can contact us using the button below and arrange to come in for a tour of the Centre.
We look forward to meeting you.
